New reads and listens for the week of 10/22/17 - 10/28/17!
Thanks for checking another 7 Wonders of the Week. I'm still getting caught up on some of my favorite podcasts and blogs. Check out my picks!
1. The Financial Advantages of Being White
This post was my first run in with The Bitches over at BitchesGetRiches.com and lets just say I'm now a fan. This post talks about one of the ugly things often avoided in the Financial Independent community - White Privilege. Of course not every white person was born with a silver spoon, but there are some less than obvious advantages that just can't be ignored. Definitely a great read.
2. SPI 280: Noah Kagan on Mindset
Another great episode from the Smart Passive Income podcast by Pat Flynn. In this episode, Pat interviews Noah Kagan (again) and they have a pretty interesting discussion on mindset, rejection, and a host of other things faced by entrepreneurs. Noah Kagan is the founder of Appsumo and was one of the first employees of FaceBook -so he knows what he's talking about.
3. 10 Tips For Leaving Your 9-5 Adjusting to Entrepreneur Life
Although I'm a loooooooooong ways off from leaving my 9-5; this article written by Tiffany Alexy, owner of Alexy Realty Group, provides a sort of weird motivation by highlighting her problems as an entrepreneur - problems I wish to have one day. So if you're already a solopreneur/entrepreneur or aspire to be one, you hafta read this one.
4. Mo'Money Podcast 121: How To Screw Your Nine To Five will Jill Stanton
This was my first foray into the Mo'Money Podcast and I gotta say this was probably one of the best ways to get introduced into a new podcast. In this episode Jessica interviews Jill Stanton from Screw The Nine To Five. Jill and her husband built an online business that helps others well...quit their jobs and start online businesses. Besides from all the awesome tips, I love that Jill is still able to be have her personality and still build a great online presence, something I worry about from time to time. Nice to know I can keep my individuality and still succeed.
5. The Top 3 Self Limiting Beliefs of Entrepreneurs
Can't remember exactly how I came across this site, but I'm glad I did. Stu McLaren sort of an online entrepreneurial icon. In this article Stu teaches about 3 self limiting beliefs: "I don't have ___" "I'm just a____" and "I'm not good at___". For those of us who tend to beat themselves up (me) check this post out and pick up some of the books mentioned.
6. Sunday Dread
Maybe I'm late... but I never knew the feeling had a name! Sunday Dread is the anxiety caused by the realization that Monday is right around the corner. I like my job and don't have this feeling every week, but if definitely sneaks its way in every once in a while. Check out this post from Debts To Riches. Easily one of my favorite online folks.
7. Finding Your Financial Freedom Number
Everyone should have a financial freedom number. Even if you don't plan on retiring early, you need to know exactly what you'll need to lead a comfortable life after your working days are through. In this article, Gabe at The Shiny Dollar, discusses what a financial freedom number is and how to find yours. Check it out!
